Rebrickable will be hosting a month-long competition to encourage the submission of some great new MOCs. The nature of Rebrickable is to promote re-using your LEGO parts to build new stuff so this competition will focus on Alternate Builds. An Alternate Build is a MOC that uses only the parts from a single official LEGO set.
I've been looking at options for a forum for ages but didn't find anything I liked 100%. However, the time has come to "just pick one already!" and so Rebrickable now has a Forum section :) The existing comments on Rebrickable are great for specific sets or parts, but lack the flexibility of a general discussion forum.
Recently I added a few new links to the downloads page but have not mentioned it here. I have opened up the parts inventories for all sets on Rebrickable for anyone to download for free use for any purpose.

Rebrickable actually turned 2 years old last month, and I completely forgot about it :) The site has continued to grow and has had many great changes made in the last year.

I mentioned this book previously, but due to a delay in publishing I got the timing wrong. Now this book is on the shelves and you can buy it from your local shop, or online from No Starch, Amazon or eBay. I bought the PDF version from No Starch but then was unable to download it after dozens of attempts. As luck would have it, I found it on the shelves of a department store (not even the book stores had it) and bought a physical copy too. Naturally, I tried the PDF download one more time and it worked :)
Disclaimer: I have a background in Microelectronics Engineering which basically means I love robots. Combine that with my career in IT and love of LEGO and you end up with a 100% biased review of this Mindstorms...
